Metro Housing|Boston Names Amy Stitely as New Executive Director

Boston, MA – The Board of Directors of Metro Housing|Boston is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Stitely as the organization’s next Executive Director.

Amy brings decades of distinguished leadership in housing policy and program administration, most recently at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (HLC) (formerly the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD)). Throughout her tenure, she has been a visible, bold, and innovative leader, driving transformative reforms in State public housing, rental assistance, and homelessness prevention programs—significantly expanding their reach and impact for residents across the Commonwealth and improving their efficiency.

Among her many accomplishments, Amy served as the executive lead for the $1 billion COVID-19 Eviction Diversion Initiative, which helped keep more than 100,000 households stably housed during the pandemic. She also led the launch of the Common Housing Application Massachusetts Program (CHAMP), the State’s centralized online housing application and waitlist system. Most recently, as Undersecretary for Strategy and Climate, Amy developed and directed cross-cutting policy and programs at the intersection of housing, climate resilience, and environmental justice.

Amy is a proven organizational leader and systems-level thinker, widely respected for her ability to guide teams through complex challenges. She has been formally recognized by the Governor for excellence in public sector leadership and mentorship, and she has dedicated her career to expanding access to quality housing, strengthening economic mobility, improving community health, and promoting housing stability. “For more than a decade, Amy has been invaluable to HLC and DHCD, working to ensure Massachusetts residents have access to safe, stable and affordable housing while advancing our climate and housing goals side by side,” said Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus. “Metro Housing|Boston’s direct, on-the-ground support for people in need cannot be overstated, and I know Amy’s skills, knowledge and leadership will only further Metro’s vital mission.”

Amy will succeed Chris Norris, who has served as Executive Director of Metro Housing|Boston since 2007 and will retire in April. Under Chris’s leadership, the organization experienced significant growth, expanded its impact, and strengthened its role as a trusted housing partner for many agencies and programs throughout Greater Boston. The Board extends its deep gratitude to Chris for his many years of dedicated service and lasting contributions.

Taylor Shepherd and Robert Torres, Co-Chairs of Metro Housing|Boston’s Board of Directors, jointly said, “The Board is proud to welcome Amy to Metro Housing|Boston this March. Her career reflects a deep commitment to housing stability, innovation, and public service, and we are confident she will lead the organization with clarity and purpose during a critical moment for housing in our communities. We look forward to partnering with Amy as she builds on Metro Housing|Boston’s strong foundation and helps shape its future.”
