Massport to Host Fellowship for the Twelfth Consecutive Year

Boston, MA – Metro Housing|Boston has announced that Mai Waziry of UMass Boston has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the Lowell L. Richards, III Fellowship for Leadership and Public Service.

Mai will complete her fellowship this summer with the Massachusetts Port Authority’s (Massport) Real Estate and Asset Management Department, where Lowell Richards was Chief Development Officer for more than ten years. The announcement comes on March 15, Lowell Richard’s birthday.

“Through Lowell’s dedication, this fellowship inspired to attract exceptional and very competitive candidates, and this year was no exception,” said Karen Richards, Lowell’s wife. “Mai exhibited a tremendous depth of life experiences and accomplishments that would have made Lowell proud to represent him. In the end, what we know and love about Lowell continues to inspire this experience.”

“Once again, we are excited to host a Lowell L. Richards III Fellow at Massport this summer,” said Andrew Hargens, Chief Development Officer. “Our long-standing partnership with Metro Housing|Boston and, importantly, the generosity of Karen Richards have afforded us the great opportunity to meet an exceptional group of fellows that have worked alongside us in Massport’s Real Estate & Asset Management Department. Mai’s credentials are outstanding, and we look forward to having them join our team.”

Mai is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Public Policy and Urban Affairs at UMass Boston. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cairo University, an MBA from Cambridge College, and a Master of Science from Northeastern University.

“The Lowell L.
