10 Oct Metro Housing|Boston to Honor Steven J. Rioff and Langley C. Keyes at Tenth Annual Founders Celebration
New Lease for Homeless Families, Inc. will receive Founders Award
BOSTON, MA – Metro Housing|Boston, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating and preventing homelessness in Boston, will honor Steven J. Rioff, Co-Chair of the Metro Housing|Boston Board of Directors and Langley C. Keyes, Professor Emeritus at MIT and longtime Metro Boston|Housing Board member, at the Tenth Annual Founders Celebration, Wednesday, November 1, 5:30 pm at John Hancock Financial in Boston. Mr. Rioff and Mr. Keys will be presented with the Lowell Richards Award for their outstanding leadership and contributions across all sectors.
Bank of America is presenting sponsor of the evening. The event co-chairs are John W. Keith, Chairman of Keith Properties, Inc. and Darryl S. Settles, President/Managing Partner of Catalyst Ventures Development.
“Steven and Lang laid the groundwork for the growth and success of Metro Housing|Boston,” said executive director Chris Norris. “Over decades of service, they have provided the substance that has bound and sustained Metro Housing|Boston’s commitment to ensure that families and individuals throughout Greater Boston will always have a place to call home.
The 2017 Founders Award will be presented to New Lease for Homeless Families, Inc., an innovative collaboration between affordable housing developers, social service providers, and government entities that works to reduce homelessness by targeting affordable homes for families in Massachusetts’s emergency shelter system. The award will be accepted on behalf of New Lease by Board members Howard E. Cohen, Beacon Communities LLC; Lawrence H. Curtis, WinnDevelopement; Richard J. Hencken, The Schochet Companies; and executive director of New Lease for Homeless Families, Inc. Thomas K. Plihcik.
Attendees will hear about Metro Housing|Boston’s daily impact on the more than 25,000 families they serve annually and about opportunities for individuals and organizations to partner with them to help keep greater Boston families and individuals in homes they can afford.
